At Bairnsdale West Primary School, our motto, “a caring, learning community,” is at the centre of who we are. It reflects the kind of school we want to be: warm, welcoming and inclusive, with strong teaching and the right support in place so every child feels they belong and can keep learning.

We know families place a lot of trust in us when they choose our school, and we value the chance to be part of each child’s education. We want Bairnsdale West to be a place where students, staff and families feel welcome, valued and supported. Our job is to make sure children are known well, taught well and cared for well in a calm environment where learning and wellbeing go hand in hand.

We believe students learn best when there are clear routines, positive relationships, high expectations and a strong sense of safety. We are committed to doing this work well and doing it consistently across the school, while also recognising that every child comes with their own strengths, needs and starting points. We are always open to reflecting, improving and working with our community so we can keep getting better for our students.

Our staff work closely together and care deeply about the school we create. We value teamwork, evidence based teaching, inclusion and respectful communication, and we know these things matter in creating the kind of culture our community wants and deserves. We are always ready to work alongside families and we see that partnership as an important part of children having success.

Our four school expectations reflect this shared approach:
- Respect everyone and everything
- Be safe and thoughtful
- Help others to be better
- Everyone is a learner

These expectations help guide the way we learn, work and treat one another every day.

We are proud of our diverse school community and of the many strengths, personalities and backgrounds that make Bairnsdale West what it is. If you would like to learn more about our school, we would be very happy to talk with you or show you around. Please contact the Office to arrange this.
