Enrolment and Parent Payments
Every day is open day at Bairnsdale West Primary School.
Please contact the school to arrange a visit.
Enrolments
Bairnsdale West Primary School believes that students are the primary consideration in all decision making. General information about the school and transition is available through the links on this page.
BWPS has had a large increase in enrolments over the past 2 years and hence we need to carefully monitor our enrolment processes.
BWPS is a “caring, learning community” and we welcome families to be part of our school and community.
Information on how to find, enrol, and start a child in your care at a school in Victoria is available on the Victorian government website.
Enrolments are encouraged to contact the school at the earliest convenience to arrange a visit, collect information or complete enrolment paperwork.
We ask that Prep enrolments are completed by the end of September so that we can confirm staffing and our transition program arrangements.
To enrol your child at our school:
- collect enrolment form booklet from our school office
- collate the required documents outlined below
- return the completed form, along with the required documents, in person or via email to bairnsdale.west.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

School zones
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones.
Students residing in our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. At this stage, our school also has additional capacity available to welcome students who are outside of our school zone, however this may not be the case in future years.
The Department provides guidance through the Enrolment: Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations.
You can find more information and answers to frequently asked questions on the Department’s website under School zones.

Parent payments
Under the Department of Education and Training’s Parent Payments Policy, Victorian government schools are required to provide transparent information to their school community on voluntary parent/carer contributions.
The Parent payment letter, linked below, outlines the voluntary parent/carer contributions at our school.
