Bairnsdale West Primary School offers Science to grade three to six students. We encourage students to think about the world through a scientific lens and to explore ideas and concepts in science through experiments.
The curriculum is based on seven big ideas. Curiosity; Observation; Questioning; Sharing Ideas; Trying again; Experimental Skills; and Knowledge of Scientific Principles.
Through a range of topics students engage in experiments which test their ideas about how the world works. They also work in small groups where they learn to use scientific equipment and procedures, and to work with others cooperatively to solve problems. In Science students are encouraged to ask questions about what they experience in their own lives and make links to science ideas.
